Associate/Assistant Professor of French, Diaspora/Migration Studies
The Department of French at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in Diaspora/Migration Studies with a focus on France and the Francophone world from an interdisciplinary, cross-cultural perspective. Additional desirable areas of interest: film studies, urban studies, youth studies. The successful candidate will be able to teach also various courses of the departmental curriculum, including courses on literature, culture, and/or film. Strong background in theory essential with interest in collaborative work with other SLCL departments and with area studies centers at the University of Illinois. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The target starting date of appointment is August 16, 2014.
A PhD is required at time of appointment. Native or near-native French and English required.
A successful candidate at the associate level will present an established record of scholarly publications, grants and awards, and demonstrated excellence in teaching and student mentoring. Evidence of an active research agenda and a strong commitment to innovative teaching is expected at the assistant professor level.
